In which a lovely camp counselor topples a family

I’m a Boston-based cancer doctor and I’ve been writing weekly fact-based-no-blame-no-rumors-all-science-all-the-time essays about Covid-19 since March 2020.

You can read my views on why to get a summer cold tested here — or about unvaccinated kids here — or you can read about vaccines/anti-vaxxers throughout history here.

Uncle Maskless’ nephew Matt in lives in Missouri.

Matt and his family are mostly vaccinated — Matt is, as are his parents Gertrude and Hank, his wife Hannah, and their 14-year-old son David — but the younger girls, Debbie and Danielle, are not.

After a long brutal pandemic year, they were all set for a perfect summer, especially since his parents had driven down from Maine for a month-long stay. Gertrude and Hand had been mega-cautious all through Covid, but finally felt safe enough to travel, which made all three grandkids ecstatic since it was the first time they’d seen “Ger and Hank-Hank” since this all started.

Debbie and Danielle were in summer day camp, with David lording it over them as a Counselor-in-Training, the “best job of my life,” he crowed (also his only job, but whatever).
