Dr. Robin’s Covid-19 Updates
“We Are In The Exponential”
Watching Omicron Explode and What You Can Do About It
I’m a Boston-based cancer doctor and I’ve been writing weekly fact-based-no-blame-no-rumors-all-science-all-the-time essays about Covid-19 since March 2020.
You can read my views on why to get your cold symptoms tested here — or about kids and Omicron here — or you can read about vaccines/anti-vaxxers throughout history here
If things feel bad, they are. “We Are In the Exponential” period of growth rate. Six months ago in Massachusetts we had 90 cases a day; today it’s over 30,000.
So given we have these huge numbers of cases, it means we have lots of vaccinated people experiencing mild, moderate, or miserable illnesses, and many unvaccinated and some vaccinated people ending up in the hospital.
In the next couple of weeks things will be seriously rough in terms of an already brutal huge impact on our ERs, our poor beleaguered PCPs and pediatricians, and our hospitals and ICUs.
We are also going to continue to see interruptions in daily life activities — everything from flying to restaurants to supply chains to schools — simply because there’s so many sick people it’s hard to keep things running.
