I’m a Boston-based cancer doctor and I’ve been writing weekly fact-based-no-blame-no-rumors-all-science-all-the-time essays about Covid-19 since March 2020.

You can read my views on ways to navigate our post-vaccine world here — or about unvaccinated kids here — or you can read about vaccines/anti-vaxxers throughout history here.

Cases and hospitalization numbers continue to fall here in the US, and pretty much the only people ending up in the hospital are the unvaccinated.

It’s now pretty much constant: when you ask a hospitalized Covid patient, “Did you get vaccinated?” — the answer is usually, “Nope.”

And death numbers have also fallen — now the lowest since the pandemic started. In Massachusetts we have had days with zero deaths! No reported deaths, no probable deaths, zero.

The improvement in the US is essentially because of vaccines — because the vaccines are so amazingly effective, and because they are still — even after close to 200,000,000 doses — so amazingly safe.

Why do I say “amazingly safe” when we’re always seeing headlines about possible side…
